WHY PROOF OF PRESENCE EXISTS

A GPS pin is not proof

The moment a real-world visit has value, there is an incentive to fake it. A location coordinate can tell you where a phone claims to be. It cannot, on its own, prove that a genuine journey, arrival or reward collection actually happened.

That makes this a trust problem, not a mapping problem.
